- 01Heavy-duty radiator cores are primarily manufactured from aluminum or copper-brass combinations, chosen for their thermal efficiency, durability under vibration, and resistance to corrosion in demanding environments. Aluminum Cores (Modern Standard): Extensively used in modern heavy-duty trucks and industrial equipment, aluminum offers high strength and lower weight, allowing for wider, more efficient cooling tubes. These are typically brazed for a robust, one-piece construction. Copper-Brass Cores (Traditional/Industrial): Highly popular for industrial, mining, and agricultural applications, these feature superior heat transfer and exceptional durability. They are often preferred in remote locations because they can be repaired and re-soldered, unlike most aluminum cores which require full replacement. Mechanically Bonded Cores: Some heavy-duty applications, such as locomotives or off-highway vehicles, use copper-brass cores where tubes are mechanically expanded into the headers for superior strength, resisting high pressure and vibrations. Heavy Duty Enhancements: High-performance copper / brass / steel cores may use heavier, thicker fin material (0.005 etc.) and thicker-walled tubes (0.009, 0.012 etc) for increased strength and longevity. Key Considerations for Material Selection: Aluminum: Lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and ideal for reducing GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight). Copper-Brass: Higher thermal conductivity but heavier, better suited for severe environments where easy, on-site repair is required On-site manufacturing of Heavy-duty custom Copper / Brass Cores click here for more info.
